- What is Sightsavers and what does it do?
Sightsavers is an international nonprofit working in some of the poorest countries in the world to restore the sight of blind people, provide medical care to prevent blindness, and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people.
- Where does Sightsavers work?
Sightsavers currently works in over thirty countries in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.
- What is the Financial Times Seasonal Appeal?
The Financial Times Seasonal Appeal is an annual appeal, where the Financial Times partners with a nonprofit organization. The appeal aims to raise awareness of and funds for the work of the nonprofit organization it partners with. For 2011-2012, Financial Times chose Sightsavers to be its partner.
Please note that the appeal ended on January 31, 2012.
- How will my donation be matched and by whom?
All donations to the Financial Times Seasonal Appeal received by January 31 will be matched by Standard Chartered through its global initiative tackling avoidable blindness, Seeing is Believing. This means that for every dollar you donate, another dollar will be donated by Seeing is Believing.
Please note that as the appeal ended on January 31, 2012, future donations will not be matched.
- How will the donations to the FT Seasonal Appeal be used?
The funds raised through the appeal will be spent on vital eye care and support for blind and visually impaired people across Africa and Asia.
- How can I donate to the appeal?
The Financial Times Seasonal Appeal ended on January 31, 2012, but you can still support our sight saving work in the developing world by making a donation.
- How can I be sure that Sightsavers has received my donation?
We will send you an email or a letter confirming that we have received your donation. This will also function as a receipt for your donation.
- Is my donation tax deductible?
As Sightsavers International, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your donation to Sightsavers is tax deductible as a charitable contribution, to the fullest extent of the law.
- How can my company help the appeal?
